The brief
A global mining group needed monthly financials that could operate across four time zones. The existing close depended on teams being available in the same window. A late pack in one region held the numbers everyone else was waiting to plan on.
What had to be true
The monthly financials had to be produced without a shared working day. The data layer had to be planning-ready at the same time, not a reporting model that would be rebuilt once Analytics Cloud planning started. Finance had to be able to defend the pack.
The build
We migrated and automated the monthly pack onto SAP Datasphere and Analytics Cloud, with a planning-ready data model from the start. Implementation was delivered in person alongside the finance team. The warehouse and the stories were scoped as one close, not as a dashboard project with a planning phase promised later.
How the close runs
Datasphere holds the governed figures. Analytics Cloud is where the teams read and plan on them. Automation carries the monthly pack so a region does not have to stay online until the last timezone has finished manual steps.
What shipped
A close the finance team can run without waiting for the last timezone to log in, and a Datasphere model that Analytics Cloud can keep planning on. The four regions share one pack instead of one meeting.
