FastAPI is the API behind the operational PWAs we host. SvelteKit talks to it. PostgreSQL is the system of record.
Where it shows up
- Mountain Ridge Wines: pooling, vintage, harvest, budgeting, and invoicing rules live in a typed API, not in a spreadsheet formula.
- Validation at the boundary: the payload the screen sends is checked before it touches the database.
- One service: the API is hosted on the same managed server as the front end.
Why FastAPI
- Python type hints keep the operational rules readable when the season or the close changes
- The API stays separate from the SvelteKit UI, so either side can change
- It runs under Docker on the AlmaLinux VPS we already manage
On a PWA, FastAPI is the back end we run. See SvelteKit and PostgreSQL.
